Chris Brown has settled two major legal issues in his life. The singer, 25, has reportedly paid out close to $100,000 to the man he assaulted in Washington, D.C. last year, putting an end to a civil lawsuit in the matter, according to TMZ.

Brown pleaded guilty to simple assault in the criminal case in September, in which he was arrested after being accused of hitting a man outside of a hotel in October 2013. Brown had originally pleaded not guilty to the charge, but changed his plea a year later and was sentenced to time served.

After a Los Angeles court hearing in May, Brown was sentenced to 131 days in jail because he violated the probation from his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown’s attorney argued that the 131 days were sufficient punishment for the D.C. case.

Brown also reportedly paid out less than $20,000 to Frank Ocean’s cousin to settle a $3 million civil lawsuit stemming from a parking lot brawl in January 2013. Police opened a misdemeanor battery investigation into the fight, but closed the matter a month later after Ocean said he was not interested in pursuing the matter, or a civil lawsuit.

A spokesperson for Brown could not be reached for comment at press time.
